Dr André van Nierop qualified in South Africa in 1996 and worked in a rural hospital where he gained invaluable experience in acute medicine and trauma. Following that he worked as a GP for a several years before coming to the UK. Here, he worked at Casualty Plus in London, the first private casualty unit in the UK. He became Clinical Lead before moving to Manchester to establish a similar facility in 2006, located in the Alexandra Hospital in Cheshire. In 2009 he moved back to London where he became the Clinical Director for Casualty Plus/Medicentre before joining Casualty First.
